From Fun to Fund$

Week 1

2 years ago, I moved back to my hometown after spending 4 years living abroad. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. That decision wasn't entirely mine. It was sparked by being laid off from my job.

In 2021, I took a leap of faith and moved abroad. That risk completely changed my life. When I lost my job, it felt like that chapter had come to a devastating end. What I thought was the worst thing happening to me turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Coming home gave me the opportunity to mend broken bonds, deepen family relationships, welcome love into my life, and begin evolving into the creator I was always meant to become.

2 months ago, I quit my job. I didn't have another job lined up and I didn't have a huge savings account. I was simply fed up. While the company I worked for was a valuable addition to my résumé, it was draining and I felt like I was wasting my time. It became the straw that broke the camel’s back. I could no longer ignore how mentally exhausted I had become or the feeling of my life rotting away under the bright overhead lights of the office. I knew it was finally time to choose myself over a paycheck.

This pivot is about self-reliance.

It's about shifting from depending on a 9-to-5 to creating my own opportunities. It's about finally treating myself like the brand I've always been.

I've never needed a perfect plan before taking a risk. In fact, the unknown has always excited me.

I'm a multi-faceted creator who's never fully taken her own gifts seriously. I sing. I sew. I model. I'm a comedian. I’m an athlete. I'm a content creator who has inspired thousands of people.

My greatest gift is my voice and my ability to tell stories and build community. I've always been transparent online, but if I'm honest, there's still a part of me that's afraid to be fully seen. Social media allows us to choose which version of ourselves we present to the world. Over the years, I've shared many chapters of my life while building a community of more than 50,000 people across platforms.

For years, social media has been something I did for fun but now I want to turn my social media influence into financial freedom.

Influencer marketing is a $32 billion industry, and I want a piece of the pie.

I’m approaching it with intention, with strategy, authentically me but more methodical.

I want to document what it really looks like to build a personal brand from the ground up. I want to show what it is like to step into entrepreneurship without pretending I have all the answers. Because I don't.

I have no clue exactly where this journey will take me. My only plan is to start, stay consistent, and figure it out along the way.

This is the first blog post of 52 entries for each week of my 37th year of life.

One year from today, I will be in a better place financially, spiritually, physically, and creatively. This is the year I architect the life I've always imagined. The year I become intentional about everything from the food I eat, the content I consume, the people I allow into my life, and how I spend my time.

I know myself well enough to know that I don't thrive without structure. If I want extraordinary results, I have to put myself on a strict program. I am still experimenting with a routine that I can commit to. But until then the goal is to keep going. To simply try and not to be afraid being seen trying…even at 37 years old.

I recently celebrated my birthday. And for the first time in a long time, I'm genuinely excited about what's ahead.

Because this is the year I take the biggest risk of them all—

Betting on myself.
